City of Newcastle (CN) is currently seeking a passionate Early Literacy Specialist to join our Libraries and Learning team on a permanent, full-time basis to lead the development and activation of early literacy services across the library network.
Drawing upon your previous experience, you will develop initiatives to deliver early literacy outcomes to meet identified community needs. You'll develop partnerships with Newcastle's communities to stimulate a collaborative approach to early learning inclusion and collective impact projects. You will lead and support the professional development of a small early literacy team focused on service innovation, creating child friendly spaces, and delivering human centred service design.
The Early Literacy Specialist will actively contribute to the forward planning processes and operational leadership of Newcastle libraries. This role is core to fulfilling the objectives of the Community Strategic Plan, the Library Strategy, and the library commitments to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This position provides high quality library customer service to the community face-to-face, over the telephone and online, and entails a prescribed level of frontline shifts across a 6-day (Monday-Saturday) day and evening roster.
