- Permanent Full-time role - 35 hours per week.
- Flexible working with optional 9-day fortnight.
City of Newcastle (CN) is looking for an experienced Solution Architect to define and design technology solutions to assist CN in meeting their strategic vision.
Reporting into the Strategy & Architecture Chapter Lead, this role will form an integral part of the IT service unit, mapping all business and technical requirements with the enterprise architecture vision. You will document and present the end-to-end solution to the Architecture Review Board for endorsement and collaborate with a team of Solution Architects to ensure architectural alignment across all business units.
You will demonstrate effective solution-based methods that best fit the environment, considering how all parts of the business work together including processes application architecture and cross-functionally.
Liaise with external Vendors to ensure the solution build addresses business requirements and aligns with architectural vision will be an important part of the role.

To be successful in this job you will have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related qualification, and/or demonstrated capability through past employment experience.
- Demonstrated experience in development of systems architecture.
- Demonstrated experience with design and oversight of the implementation of high volume, highly available client facing solutions.
- Demonstrated understanding of technology, architecture, operations and key business processes.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience of enterprise architecture frameworks and IT governance and information management frameworks.
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and clients.
- Ability to effectively engage and influence senior business and IT stakeholders.
- Excellent negotiation, written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starter who can work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Demonstrates the values and behaviours that contribute to a constructive, high performance culture.
Desirable
- Certification in TOGAF.
- COBIT 5 Foundation certification.
- SFIA (Skills Framework for the Information Age) skills.
