City of Newcastle (CN) is looking for an experienced UX Designer that will be accountable for how City of Newcastle (CN) relates to the public and stakeholders through digital technologies.
This role requires you to be able to significantly add valuable human-centric input along the entire design process.
Enthusiastic and scientifically minded you should be willing to collaborate on both the micro and macro level with the team to provide the best experience for our customers.
Making strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features will be pivotal in this role to achieve successful outcomes.

To be successful in this job you will have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Graphic Design, UX Design or a related qualification, and/or demonstrated capability through past employment experience.
- Demonstrated skills in various design techniques such as sketching prototyping, wire-frames and development of UI assets.
- Experience in UX design across research, strategy, design and agile delivery.
- Experience working in an Agile UX environment.
- Demonstrated ability to understand business requirements and any technical limitations.
- Demonstrated ability to iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
- Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and clients.
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplined, team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies.
- Knowledgeable about Design Thinking and Human Centred Design
- Be passionate about all things digital, UX and other areas of design and innovation.
- Pro-active and ability to change perspectives.
- Proficient in design software (e.g. Sketch, Axure).
- Ability to present a UX Portfolio showcasing previous work or completed projects.
- Demonstrates the values and behaviours that contribute to a constructive, high performance culture.
Desirable
- SCRUM certification.
- Design thinking and human centred design courses.

Remuneration: $$106,032 to $115,575 + 9.5% Superannuation per annum for a 35 hour week.
